Rental homes often suffer from a bad reputation. The stereotype is a poorly kept house with an out-of-control yard. Neighbors dismissively refer to it as “the rental” instead of something more personal like “The Johnsons’ house” or “The Petersons’ place.” Renters are rarely given full “neighbor” status, which can contribute to their lack of commitment to the home. 


To make things worse, spring of 2022 has proven to be a very tough year for yard care. The very rainy spring season has made it difficult for the average working family to maintain a yard in between the rain storms. A poorly kept yard reflects badly on the management company, the owner and the tenants. 


A possible solution: Consider including yard care in the rent. A home that is well cared for will attract tenants and will not be stereotyped as “the rental” on the block. The neighbors will be happy and your tenants will not be tasked with unending yardwork. 


Adding a yard care service and including it in the cost of the rent and rental terms will give you great peace of mind and stop neighbors from complaining. Your tenants will love it, too. Reference Performance Reviews It can be hard to know where to start when writing your review. If you’ve completed performance reviews at your current job, referencing those can be a great starting point. Performance reviews do a great job at reminding you of all the accomplishments you’ve had.
